Safety is a key factor when picking out a new vehicle. In recent results of the overlap front crash test conducted by the Insurance Institute For Highway Safety (IIHS), 12 cars were tested for their safety quality. This test measures the car’s structure, restraint systems and kinematics plus what kind of injuries the crash dummies attained. During the test 25 percent of a vehicle's front end on the driver side hits a 5-foot-tall rigid barrier at 40 mph.
Some of the IIHS Top safety Picks included the Dodge Dart, Ford Focus, Hyundai Elantra and Scion tC. Checkout the video below for an inside look at the overlap crash test!
In today’s world finding a fuel efficient vehicle is top priority and more manufacturers are making them. A recent study conducted by TrueCar’s shows that the average fuel economy for new vehicles has risen by 0.7 MPG.
The national fleet fuel economy has been improving for the fourth month in a row. TrueCar collects data by looking at monthly average fuel economy according to brand, manufacturer and vehicle segments. They then use sales data for the month to come up with monthly statistics.
Some of the leading brands among manufacturers include Hyundai, offering 10 different models with four-cylinder engines, Volkswagen with diesel and turbocharged models and lastly, Honda also having models with four-cylinder engines.
“Despite the relative drop in gas prices, consumer’s preference for fuel efficient vehicles only grew stronger in June,” says senior analyst for TrueCar, Jesse Toprak.
